Giola's Deli

We heard about Giola’s Deli through a friend of a friend. We like nothing better than a good sandwich place. We absolutely love Palmer’s Deli in Des Moines. After moving back to Minneapolis we were on the hunt for a good sandwich spot but we couldn’t find anything more than a Jimmy John’s or Subway. While fine, we are looking for something more satisfying. After moving to St. Louis we discovered LeGrand’s (amazing) Blues City Deli (out of this world). So after we heard about Giola’s we decided to give it a try. We headed there on a cold Saturday in December. The Hill is super close to us, and sometimes is a bit overwhelming with the neighborhood spots. Could you ever eat your way through the Hill? There are so many? We walk in and notice that it is small, but oh so cute. It was a little “old school” with taking a number and ordering. After we stood there debating on the menu and figuring out how to order, (a kind patron told us to take a number) we decided. Mr. A on the double hot sandwich and me with a build your own (turkey, provel, onion, olive, pickle, tomoto and a little bit of mayo). Our sandwiches were made quickly and right in front of us. When Mr. A went to pay, the prices were reasonable. 5.50 for mine and 7/25 for Mr. A. We sat down and dug in. We were so pleased. Mine was perfect, I think she added some special sauce or dash of something because it was so tasty! Hub devoured his as well. We loved the feel of the restaurant. Very homey, and love that it is a family run restaurant. We knew we’d come back again. It was no LeGrand’s or Blues City but it was a great sandwich with good service and a homey feel. Next time I’d like to try something different, but I just love my turkey sandwiches.
